SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Auto Centralized Total Loss Adjuster (Property) (CAT) is responsible for investigating, evaluating, negotiating and bringing to final resolution total loss automobile claims resulting from a catastrophe such as hail, flood or tornado. The role’s primary duties include obtaining values on total loss vehicles, verifying damages and pre-existing damages, reviewing all claim file information and negotiating and settling claims for proper amounts. They are also responsible for documenting all activity, submitting proper claims paperwork, issuing settlement payment and closing claims.
REPORTS TO: Project Manager
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
·Follows RENFROE and clients’ policies and procedures to handle all assigned total loss auto catastrophe claims
·Works with Project Manager and other adjusters to share knowledge and experience and to gain new skills
·Determines cash value of the auto by using market auto values data, assessing pre-existing damage, mileage, and wear and tear
·Obtains and verifies damages including but not limited to obtaining copies of repair estimates, valuations, and photographs
·Records statements from insured in situations when facts are not clear
·Issues settlement checks to insured
·Coordinates the relocation of total loss vehicles to salvage yards or other locations
·Processes car title and tax transactions
·Enters claim information into client’s claim processing systems and utilizes various estimating systems
·Makes suggestions of ways to improve process efficiency
·Participates in special projects and completes other duties as assigned
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum of 6 months auto claims experience is preferred
· Participation in technical insurance coursework is preferred, such as CPCU
· Experience using various claims processing and estimating systems is preferred
· Appropriate licenses, depending on state requirements, and successful completion of required/applicable claims certification training classes
·Effective problem resolution and decision making skills to include analyzing insurance policies and information, using investigative skills, demonstrating sound judgment and utilizing own experience and the experience of others
·Strong analytical skills and consistent attention to detail
·Knowledge of insurance theory and practices and insurance contracts
·Communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing and the ability to negotiate with policy holders, claimants, attorneys and the general public
·Strong customer service orientation and good rapport with the insured and claimants
·Well-organized and hard-working, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
·Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to establish good relationships with clients, RENFROE management, employees and others with whom they interact

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
