We currently have an opening for a Special Investigator.  We prefer the investigator work in either our Jacksonville, Florida or Omaha, Nebraska offices but will consider a remote investigator with the right experience.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the investigation of claims to detect then investigate potential fraud in a professional manner protecting the company from fraudulent activity and bad faith damages.  This will involve both conducting investigations then reporting to the claims examiner handling the claim and some direct claim handling. 

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Conduct timely investigations of suspected fraudulent claims in accordance with state regulatory requirements and department guidelines
• Identify contractors, individuals, providers, and/or professionals that are involved in suspicious activities.
• Conduct interview and obtain detailed recorded statements from all involved parties
• Conduct thorough searches using internal, industry and internet databases – resources
• Work with State Fraud Bureaus, Law Enforcement and other Special Investigators
• Handle claims in accordance with state and department guidelines as requested

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice and/or experience in either SIU or Claims

Ability to multi-task and be an effective planner with above average time management and organizational skills.

Excellent interviewing and communication skills, both verbal and written

Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior SIU, Private Investigations or Property and Casualty Claims experience

Working knowledge of Special Investigative Unit skills and investigative techniques

Strong desire to exhaust all leads/complete a thorough investigation to achieve an accurate conclusion
