Commercial Underwriter - Agriculture/Farm

The Commercial Underwriter will be responsible for managing the profitability and growth of the Agricultural product portfolio which includes Farm and Ranch property, Commercial Auto, General Liability and Workers Compensation. Works with agent to build relationships, solicit new business and retain profitable renewals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Primary responsibility is to meet or exceed the profit and growth targets for the Agricultural business segment. This includes profit, expense and growth targets as assigned.
2. Works with management to develop and manage the product programs, forms, and endorsements.
3. Review new business submissions and renewals and refer above delegated authority to the appropriate next level with a complete analysis including recommendations for accepting, rejecting, terms, conditions and pricing.
4. Monitor new submissions and renewals for accuracy, completeness and acceptability. Tie results to underwriting control and audits.
5. Assist management in establishing underwriting and production goals and objectives.
6. Review, apply and communicate changes that develop with Business Development staff and others as needed.
7. Maintain and stay current on underwriting and market trends, conditions and competition in the product business segment.
8. Work to obtain industry coursework toward completion of industry designations that will enhance knowledge of the business segment. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. 5+ years of Agricultural or Farm Underwriting experience  preferred. Experience as a multi-line, multi-state underwriter preferred.
2. Degree Preferred. Accumulated experience will be considered.
3. CPCU desirable. but not required.
4. Must be knowledgeable of ISO, AAIS and NCCI forms endorsements and rating methodology
5. Computer literate.
6. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment.
7. Travel as needed.
