Our client is seeking a Data Analyst. The ideal candidate will perform complex insurance data analysis and integration in support of business operations. Perform SQL queries. Select and report financial and management information. Work closely with all departments and management, including software vendor.
Responsibilities include:
Performs Data Analysis, data design, and data transformation processes.
Relational and Dimensional database concepts
Develop tools and methodologies for analyzing and presenting data
Participate in planning sessions with clients, business analysts and team members to develop robust reporting solutions
Provide application development support and maintenance as needed
Train end users to operate new or modified programs
Develop technical documentation and guidelines as needed
Schedules walkthroughs of data mapping documents and specifications as appropriate throughout project and application lifecycle.
Analyzes data for balancing. Resolves data issues, explains and documents legitimate differences.
Periodically audits data in application lifecycle and addresses data anomalies or issues as necessary.
Helps build data validation procedures with developers
Validates data results with Business Analysts, developers and/or customers.
Review and develop recommendations for enhancements to the system
Test and review the system and develop strategies in workflow for operations
Document changes in procedures and workflow
Provide weekly status to management of all accomplishments and issues
Become a subject matter expert for the business in the P&C insurance space
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems or related program
3-5 years’ experience with systems development and data analysis
Worked with complex data systems including operational data stores and data warehouses
Developed queries and solutions using advanced T-SQL concepts and techniques
Understands the inner workings of Microsoft SQL Server in relation to query execution, performance and memory management
Understands relational and dimensional database concepts with Microsoft SQL Server
Worked with large datasets/warehouses/data stores distributed across multiple environments and familiar with the techniques necessary to efficiently query and report on data from these sources
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
Working knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance in relation to Auto, GL, PL, BOP, Property, Inland Marine, and Workers Compensation policies
Familiarity with claims coding on the above lines and concepts of reserving, payments, recoveries, and loss triangles
Worked with Policy data warehouses and familiar with exposures, limits, deductibles and rating factors on the above lines
