StarStone Specialty Insurance (a division of the Enstar Group) is seeking an applicant who can provide proactive claims handling, including investigation, liability, damages coverage, negotiation on a very active pending consisting mostly of primary E&O and D&O. Assume proactive and effective control claims management pursuant to established StarStone claims handling guidelines. Establish reserves pursuant to establish reserving protocols and reserve authority procedures, and complete Loss reports where appropriate
Respond to underwriting requests on claim progression and account trends.
Minimum of 5 – 7 years claims handling experience for a diverse group of E&O claims and EPL claims for primary policies.
D&O claims handling a plus.
Awareness of claim and market trends that affect risk.
Comprehensive knowledge of product lines and forms.
Ability to strategize and devise cost effective strategies for all assignments in pending
Knowledge of systems and departmental resources
Awareness of claim and market trends that affect risk
Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to re-shift priorities as needed.
Proactively manage caseload including thorough investigation and independent evaluation of liability and damages.
Ability to assess potential exposure leading to sound reserve rationale.
Comprehensive knowledge of product lines/coverage and forms.
Assess coverage with minimal supervision, identify complex coverage issues and issue written coverage letters.
Effectively manage outside counsel, perform independent assessment and devise strategic plan for the disposition of new and existing claims.
Ensures files are appropriately documented and notated.
Strong analytical skill and results-oriented.
Motivated, collaborative, personable and flexible, including willingness to handle projects and ad hoc assignments depending on department needs.
Ability to present to senior management as needed.
Provide claim assistance and account trend update to underwriting staff.
Knowledge of systems and departmental resources.
Business travel as required (approx.25%)
Bachelor’s degree required; professional designation and/or legal degree a plus.
