Job Description

Summary: 
Key role responsible for managing the day-to-day activities related to financial planning & analysis, risk based capital modeling and rating agency capital models. 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:    Other duties may be assigned.  

  1. Manages the day-to-day financial planning & analysis functions including, preparation of annual financial plans and reforecasts
  2. Updates, maintains and continuously improves the financial planning models and, risk based capital and rating agency capital models. 
  3. Liaises with external advisors and other key members of management on capital models, plans and forecasts to enhance the Centauri financial and capital modeling process. 
  4. Prepares periodic actual vs plan/reforecast reports for management and drives analysis of drivers behind variances. 
  5. Performs periodic peer analysis using internal models and external data sources (i.e. SNL). 
  6. Has overall responsibility for maintaining, updating, enhancing and streamlining financial plans and models.   Researches new technology and spreadsheet methods associated therewith. 
  7. Under direction of both the CFO and Director of Finance, works with other team members to prepare periodic board exhibits and analysis for key management meetings. 
  8. Prepares periodic UCAA pro forma financials for regulatory and compliance purposes and maintains and keeps pro formas and long terms plans up to date and transparent.
  9. Assists with the preparation of the annual statutory close in respect of risk based capital information.  Updates and maintains internal RBC models and prepares periodic RBC forecasts to monitor capital adequacy and provide recommendations to management on approaches to maximize risk based capital levels.  
  10. In concert with the CFO, works to liaise with external rating agencies to track and monitor requirements for rating agency capital and financial metrics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required – from four-year college or university in finance or accounting or advanced degree therein; five plus years of property & casualty related experience with demonstrated relevant financial planning/modelling experience.
  • Must have demonstrated hands-on experience in working with P&C Risk Based Capital methodology.  
  • Good working knowledge of P&C GAAP and Statutory accounting
  • Certificates and Licenses: Certified Public Accountant, MBA; not required but helpful., CPCU, Actuarial, finance or mathematics background also helpful.

Required Skills: 

  • Computer Applications – Strong expertise in Excel and excel based financial planning and capital models.  Must have the ability to build and /or modify complex spreadsheets.
    • Working Knowledge of SNL analytics is a strong plus.  
    • Knowledge and experience in working with AM Best BCAR models is a strong plus.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, internet software, and database software. 
  • Judgment - Exhibits sound and accurate judgment; Supports and explains reasoning for decisions.
  • Communication – ability to write and present complex ideas in a clear, concise fashion to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Supervisory Skills:   Position will not have direct subordinates; however, position must be able to leverage and work with other members of the finance and accounting team who are not directly under their control 

Location: 

  • This position is based on the Company’s Sarasota, Florida office.  Telecommuting or other remote working arrangements are not available for this position. 
  • Relocation assistance is available for this position.
