The Director of Actuarial Services & Health Analytics will play a key role in the national expansion of Ascension Care Management, a direct subsidiary of Ascension Health.
We are looking for someone with healthcare and payer experience who will perform the actuarial functions, while also identifying and forecasting issues and opportunities for improvement.
Responsibilities of the role: Responsible for all the actuarial functions to support the Ascension associate health benefit plan including pricing, plan design impacts, COBRA rate development, reserving and support of financial reporting.
Responsible for the analysis of health care data to identify trends, explain plan results, and uncover and investigate problems and opportunities for plan improvement.
Responsible for development of medical trend development and forecasting.
Responsible for the development, tracking and reporting of shared risk arrangements between Ascension as the employer and owned and affiliated providers.
Responsible for analyzing the financial risks associated with value-based reimbursement agreements including Medicare MSSP, Medicare Advantage and various Commercial agreements.
Responsible for the development of financial modeling to support fee-for-service provider contracting and assessing the impacts of proposed contractual changes; communicating recommendations to network contracting team on how to achieve objectives.
Responsible for tracking the portfolio of network contract changes to be used in pricing and financial forecasting.
Responsible for identifying, quantifying and tracking the impact of various medical cost initiatives to impact the cost of care including care management, network management, claim management, pharmacy management and other possible areas of impact.
Qualifications Competencies/ Work Experience: Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
FSA, with 10+ years of relevant healthcare actuarial and medical analytic experience preferably within a health insurance plan with exposure to the provider community.
Seven years of progressively responsible experience with two years of leadership experience required.
3+ years of experience in managing a team of professionals including mentorship of new talent.
Strong communication skills with ability to translate complex models into easily understood information accessible to a variety of audiences.
Actuary certification preferred.
Education: Bachelor's level degree required.
Advanced degree preferred.
