Our Exciting Work EnvironmentIn this leadership role, the candidate will prepare Delaware North s consolidated financial statements and related Senior executive reporting; facilitate the external audit of Delaware North s and each of its subsidiaries; assist in the development and implementation of procedures that improve financial compliance efforts; various other financial functions. Communicate and review issues and deliverables with Senior corporate and subsidiary management. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 1) Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP to include: a) Issuance of monthly financial results to Senior management and quarterly reports for Delaware North s Board of Directors b) Preparation of the balance sheet, GAAP income statement, operational earnings statement, and cash flow statements c) Preparation of detailed schedules supporting each financial statement line item on the balance sheet for all business units d) Preparation of detailed reports and financial ratios indicating compliance with various contractual financial agreements e) Liaise with Senior management to explain financial reports and develop/revise reporting to meet management s needs. f) Liaise with FP&A and review monthly plan financial results g) Assist department manager and director in developing proper accounting practices for advanced accounting issues h) Research new accounting pronouncements and their potential impact on the Delaware North financial statements i) Perform month-end consolidation procedures, including preparation of GL entries, monthly consolidation entries, intercompany account reconciliation and translation adjustment, balance sheet and income statement review, cash flow statement preparation and ensure adequate supporting documentation is prepared and maintained j) Review monthly subsidiary finance packages for accuracy and proper report criterion 2) Prepare debt compliance package of Delaware North s Restricted Group for lenders to include: a) Issuance of quarterly and annual Delaware North Restricted Group and Consolidated financial statements. b) Preparation of detailed schedules and financial ratio calculations indicating compliance with debt agreements. c) Preparation of Management Discussion and Analysis, including summary of financial results for trailing twelve month period, new business developments, and financing activity. 3) Assist the department manager in coordinating the external audits of Delaware North, each of its subsidiaries and certain Sportservice and THS units through: a) Preparation of full financial statements b) Preparation of footnote disclosure and related supporting schedules c) Development of audit techniques that streamline the audit process and extensive contact with external auditors. d) Preparation of detailed impairment schedule in order to review and identify any units with potentially impaired assets on their books 4) Manage the accounting for the company s master insurance plan, including: a) Review annual allocation rate changes for insurance policies, including workers compensation, general liability, and auto before and after entry into PeopleSoft. b) Review and revise one-off insurance allocation adjustments c) Manage and assist with unit/corporate inquiries d) Review insurance policy valuations and reserves, including coordination of annual actuarial reporting with HR and review of actuarial reports for valuation of plan liabilities and assets and comparison to current reserve amounts 5) Support the Financial Compliance and Assurance role a) Assist in developing and implementing processes that monitor compliance with Delaware North s financial policies and procedures and assist in remediation of noted deficiencies b) Coordinate the annual review of accounting policies and procedures, including the review of unit responses and communication with Senior management 6) Other reporting preparation and review, including: a) Review the financial results and presentation for Delaware North s Board of Directors and Shareholder meetings in conjunction with FP&A. b) Prepare ad hoc and detailed schedules to assist with the preparation of federal and state tax return filings. c) Review each unit s quarterly financial package ensuring that financial statement accounts agree to the issued monthly financial statements, account usage is proper and in conformity with Delaware North standards, and detailed schedules are properly prepared with the appropriate financial information d) Review and submit financial data for census reports, includes monitoring reporting requests and requirements e) Preparation of annual gross revenue file to be used in marketing initiatives 7) Other projects as needed, including: a) Assist the department manager with due diligence projects in connection with potential business acquisitions through review and audit of financial records. b) Perform contractual, financial statement and transactional review for compliance with Delaware North standards and U.S. GAAP c) Perform financial data research within the accounting and consolidation systems as needed to satisfy ad-hoc requests from Management d) Assist in the development and validation of formal reports to meet management reporting requirements e) Provide accounting and reporting guidance and support as needed to unit controllers f) Other projects, as needed Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Independent problem solving and analytical abilities coupled with good troubleshooting skills. Strong knowledge of accounting policies and procedures required. Skills attained through completion of a4-year accounting degreeand4-5 years general accounting experience.Public accounting experience andCPA required.Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure toward the goal of timely and accurate completion of assigned tasks. Strong computer skills required with ability to independently learn automated program functionality. Proficiency in MS Excel required. Excellent communication skills required.
