POSITION: Financial Consultant LOCATION: New York; Hackensack, NJ; Roseland, NJ; CT POSITION SUMMARY: The Financial Consultant position is a professional level position with multi-pronged career path options after at least 18 months in role. Consultants represent TIAA and are accountable for asset growth, asset retention, and provide counseling for all participants, new entrants, prospects, beneficiaries and their legal and financial representatives on the complete spectrum of TIAA products and services. Consultants also develop, maintain, and support relationships with key institutional representatives and partners with Relationship Managers to achieve overall company objectives. Consultants interact with participants and their representatives in-person (in the office and at the institution), by telephone, by internet/e-mail, by written correspondence, via workshops and seminars, as well as by marketing outreaches. Consultants counter competitive tactics while achieving asset growth, asset retention, and service goals. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Provide a broad range of financial consulting/planning services to our individual customers/participants at existing institution concentration on healthcare in the metropolitan area; ensuring asset retention and growth. Accountable for making TIAA the primary relationship (first call) for customers in need of distinctive advice, products and services related to achieving their long-term financial goals. Sale and delivery of all products and services including retail mutual funds, annuities, IRAs, 529 and 403b plans, life insurance and others. Counsel participants on their pension plans, tax deferred annuities and available investment options, recommend and facilitate new purchases and provide authoritative information upon which important personal financial planning decisions are based. Coordinate, organize and facilitate workshops/benefit fairs. Strong emphasis on services, sales, customers, and retention objectives. QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of 3-5 years industry experience Demonstrated presentation skills to large audiences Bachelor's degree Travel required and Valid U.S. Driver's License (Primarily Metropolitan NY area) NASD Series 7 and 63 Registered Representative with all applicable state insurance licensing (life, health and accident) within 90 days. Candidates with 7 and 63 strongly preferred at time of application DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Professional designation strongly desired: CFP, CLU, ChFC, etc. Expert knowledge of financial planning concepts including a broad knowledge of TIAA products Team-oriented with an ability to work independently as well as within a larger team Must be highly organized and capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal, written, sales and interpersonal communication skills are desired Agility in determining an managing priorities Key traits: integrity, understanding, team player, results-driven, personal excellence, embodies an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit Equal Employment Opportunity is not just the law, it s our commitment.
