We are in search of a Claims Manager, Property Operations to join our team.  This will be a permanent opportunity with some travel between headquarters in New Berlin, central New York’s Oneonta area and our Latham / Albany office.

As a hands-on Property Operations Claims Manager you will provide leadership and strategic direction for first party operations; and drive selection and implementation of technological solutions aimed at delivering cost effective/efficient processes leading to industry leading customer service.

You will:

  • manage hiring process, including building of talent and developing technical and clerical staff to achieve maximum quality performance and results; provide technical guidance and direction to staff by communicating claim principles, philosophies, practices, procedures and techniques; create customer-focused TEAM sharing common vision of service expectations
  • implement Company programs on reserving, file evaluation, litigation management for designated units, ensure proper file documentation and reporting, loss recovery and file disposition
  • develop property and auto physical damage claims budget
  • ensure timely, accurate and stable case reserves in accordance with PMIC claim reserve program; develop and maintain viable Business Recovery Plan and CAT Plan
  • monitor operating efficiency of department through control of loss adjusting and litigation expenses, while achieving loss severity control; be accountable for appropriate resolution of Insurance Department complaints and full implementation of Regulatory Compliance.

The ideal candidate must possess:

  • minimum Bachelor's degree, or equivalent educational/work experience
  • at least one of the following insurance designations: SCLA, AIC, CPCU, CIC
  • significant auto and property claims experience to include time in managerial capacity; experience as trusted adviser to management and teams while exemplifying highest standards of ethics and service
  • solid knowledge and understanding of auto and property claims and terminology; litigation management and policy interpretation, including property, auto and casualty lines of business
  • demonstrated ability to analyze and proactively adapt to changing claims needs by instituting changes/programs leading to both better service and cost containment
  • superior communication skills (oral and written), who has mastered presentation techniques
