JOB SUMMARY:Ability to learn and apply the principles of review, record and report O/S/D Incidents, Intents and Claims to allow for appropriate action to be taken in the next phase for cargo claim resolutionESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Receive telephone calls from customers, shippers, consignees and carriers relating to cargo loss incidents Enter Incidents, Notice of Intent to Claim and Cargo Claims into claims database Review mail, faxes and phone information for distribution to appropriate staff member Obtain and analyze documents to support or disprove cargo claims Process and negotiate small claim settlements between customers and carriers Involves phone, email and written communication with Customers, Railroads, Carriers and Hub offices On the job training and periodic seminars to develop individual into a professional claims handler Batch processing of accounts receivable checks and processing of accounts payable checks Other duties as assigned Must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program for the duration of the internship Willingness to learn Customer service oriented Ability to utilize a PC Works well within a team environment Exceptional organization skills Ability to type at least 40 words per minute Experience using Lotus Notes, MS Word and MS Excel This position is a school year internship starting in September 2017 and ending in May 2018. All applicants must be able to work 20 hours a week.
