The Senior Financial Reporting Specialist (SFRS), under the general supervision of management, performs review and oversight functions of the accounting service provider related to mutual funds to ensure financial statements (Form N-CSR and Form N-Q) are free of material misstatements and material omissions. The SFRS reviews financial information required in the shareholder reports while coordinating with the service provider, legal department, treasurer, fund accounting, portfolio managers, and the external auditors. The SFRS reviews financial information required in registration statements and other regulatory filings, including Form N-SAR and Form N-MFP, while coordinating with the service provider, legal department, and treasurer. The SFRS serves in a supervisory capacity to the FRS by fielding questions and reviewing their follow through work. The SFRS supports the efforts of the reporting group in leading special projects, inquiries, and ad hoc requests, as needed. Responsibilities Manage multiple complex reports through overlapping sixty-day cycles ensuring all internal and external deadlines are met. Review financial statements of funds with more complex issues, supplementary schedules, and holdings information, which have been prepared by the service provider. Monitor and ensure proper supporting documentation is maintained for certified shareholder financial reports (reports). Provide feedback to the service provider on the results of the review. Ensure reports and other information provided to various internal and external clients are materially accurate and complete, with a focus on full and fair disclosure in accordance with authoritative guidelines. Perform detail and analytical reviews of financial information with a high degree of professional skepticism. Identify potential issues, perform research and propose solutions. The SFRS serves in a supervisory capacity to the FRS and service provider by reviewing their documentation and responding to their questions. Manage and resolve questions related to report draft comments from reviewers. Monitor the service provider, legal, treasurer, fund accounting, portfolio managers, writers, and external auditors to ensure processes surrounding the shareholder report process are complete. Maintain relationships with internal and external business partners involved in the report review process. Participate in the design and maintenance of a strong oversight control environment in order to ensure disclosure controls and procedures pertaining to the mutual fund shareholder reports are operating effectively in accordance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Develop and maintain documentation of processes and procedures. Assist in evaluating and implementing new accounting principles, regulatory guidance, and changes in industry practice. Assist in developing and presenting training to the team. Review Form N-SARs, Form N-MFPs, registration statements, and regulatory documents prepared by the service provider. Assist in periodic testing of service provider calculations and data, special projects, inquiries, ad hoc requests, as needed. Maintain advanced working knowledge of accounting requirements and regulations. Required SkillsBachelor's degree in accounting, a related field, or any equivalent combination of education and work experience. Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Excellent grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
