Job Description: Claims & Compliance Manager-Safety Since 1969, Eagle Transport has continued to grow annually, through retention and continuing service of existing accounts. With over 440 power units and 23 terminals located throughout the eastern United States, Eagle has secured itself as a leader in transporting petroleum products. To assist the Vice President of Safety with the investigation, assessment and settlement of cargo, property, & workers compensation claims, as well as monitoring all areas of compliance (DOT, FMCSA, OSHA) as required by local, state, and federal laws, rules and regulations. Essential Duties: Proactively manage individual claims from notification to closure, investing the necessary level of involvement required for each claim depending on the category, severity, and type of claim. This will be accomplished by working with the adjusters, examiners, investigators, and attorneys. Monitors, and as necessary, coordinates compliance activities to remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities, and to identify trends, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness. Coordinates and tracks all correspondence with employees, insurance carriers, and healthcare providers on all Workers Compensation claims. Insures no claim is neglected or allowed to age without periodic attention Guides managers when employees are returning from workers' compensation, personal medical leave, or a leave of absence to ensure all return to duty requirements are completed prior to employee's return. Pursues recovery claims from third-party insurance carriers by collecting documentation for damage repairs to Eagle equipment and completing subrogation packets to ensure payment for damages caused by other individuals. Assists with Claims Reserves management. The reserve issues will be reviewed to ensure that they are in accordance with expected costs and company procedures. Written and verbal reports on these issues will be given by the claims manager on a monthly basis. Generate and complete monthly Safety Analysis Reports in Excel to track and quantify accidents, incidents, and worker s compensation injuries based on miles, loads, and man hours to determine frequency. Responsible for the handling and processing of OSHA reportable claims. Maintain Bureau of Labor Statistics Log and Summary. Ensure proper reporting and enforcement as appropriate and/or required. Performs other daily duties as assigned and/or required. Job Specifications: 1-3 years experience in a Safety, Compliance, or Legal/Regulatory position, preferably with a transportation company involved in HazMat transportation. Familiarity with or ability to learn DOT, FMCSA, OSHA and environmental rules, regulations, and guidelines as they impact the company. Ability to collect, report, analyze, and ultimately interpret Safety-related metrics & frequency reports, as outlined by the needs of the Safety Department and Eagle Transport Capable of active problem solving, financial assessments of claims, data analytics, time and workload management, purposeful communications, flexibility, and active listening skills. The candidate must have exceptional organizational skills to be successful. Ability to attend training session or seminars to increase & refine Regulatory skill set.
