Job Description:Finance Manager Opportunity As a key member of the business leadership team, the Finance Manager position is responsible for financial reporting, planning and analysis for the Teams and Dedicated Divisions located in Birmingham, AL. This includes managing all aspects of finance, including planning, forecasting and decision-support analyses/tools for these two divisions. This position operates both at a high strategic level as well as digging into and reporting the front-line details on a weekly basis. This is an individual contributor position and needs someone who is passionate about providing solutions to the business by getting into the details themselves. This person will have direct responsibility for the following activities: partnering with the business unit leadership team to deliver on strategic business growth and transformation initiatives, financial reporting by customer, financial planning, forecasting and analysis, business/operational analysis, development and implementation of key performance indicators/metrics for the business and capital investment. The successful candidate will be measured more on how he or she moves the needle for the business than merely tracking the results of past activities. Specifically, this position is accountable for the following: Partner with the business unit General Manager and the operational management team to deliver on strategic growth priorities for the business Advise and make recommendations to management to drive growth opportunities and cost initiative savings Identify and manage opportunities and risks Advise division leaders of necessary corrective actions and work closely with them to ensure delivery of objectives and plan Provide budget control, variance analysis, fixed cost and support with period-end close process Develop and implement best in class forecasting and budgeting model and tools Provide weekly reporting and forecast of key operating metrics and monthly financials to leaders of both Teams and Dedicated Divisions and Transport America Direct the preparation of the divisions' annual budgeting and planning process Develop and implement a rolling forecasting process for the divisions, including necessary financial reporting Communicate business plans and results to all levels of the organization in a concise, professional manner Provide ongoing analysis on capital and other decision-support requirements Provide analyses / metrics for Fuel and Driver Hiring as well as partner with the Shared Service leaders to drive results Work closely with Accounting department to ensure actual, forecast and plan are in sync Ad hoc analyses and reporting as requested Note: These are the major functions and accountabilities required of the position and are the predominant criteria by which performance will be assessed. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.Job Requirements:Our desired candidate has: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA, MBA or CMA desired 8 - 10 years of business support related experience, Trucking Industry a plus Experience with the financial management and leadership of a remotely located Business Unit, a plus Demonstrated character and drive to be a full partner in the leadership of a Business Unit group, with a strong ethic, positive attitude, professionalism and a high level of discretion Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - ability to work effectively with all levels of management as well as facilitate and participate in group meetings Ability to operate both strategically and tactically. Advanced Excel skills and intermediate MS Office skills (other Office products besides Excel). Expectation is that candidate has the capability to work with and create pivot tables, vlookups, linking spreadsheets etc. routinely. Demonstrated advanced understanding of financial analysis Advanced skills in the development of financial ratios and comparative analysis Capability to shift priorities quickly in a fast paced environment Strong time management skills with ability to consistently meet customer/sales/operations deadlines Self motivated and ability to work independently to create analysis and drive actions with the respective General Managers of each business division Minimal travel Benefits: Transport America believes in exceeding expectations.
