This position is responsible for providing technical and general accounting assistance to the Assistant Finance Director. In addition, the Accountant IV will be responsible for monthly financial analytics, the annual budget process and monthly budget analysis for Community Physician Network, Santa Monica Bay Physicians, Specialty Care Network, Entertainment Industry Medical Group, Entertainment Industry Medical Group-Physical Therapy and any additional, future groups. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing physician compensation calculation process and for handling special projects as needed. Manage the production of internal and external financial reports. Manage the preparation of financial analyses for management and executives. Interact with accounting staff to ensure completion of analytical analysis for the monthly financials. Participation in the budget process. Aid in the preparation of operational as well as capital budgets for the above mentioned financial statements on an annual basis. Contribute to monthly budget variance reporting and analysis for all financials as mentioned above. Assist department management in identifying and communicating their financial management needs. Respond to department, physician and other requests for financial data and interpretation of financial reports, ledgers, policy and accounting regulations. Review accounting ledgers on a monthly basis to insure that revenue and expenses are properly recorded. Facilitate the completion of department policies and procedures. Completion of various special projects as assigned. Required Skills: Position requires an extensive knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, a working knowledge of fund accounting and healthcare accounting. Skill in managing the maintenance of accounting systems and in producing financial reports for medical groups and physician networks. Ability to analyze accounting processes and practices and recommend necessary changes to improve accuracy, compliance and efficiency. Demonstrated working knowledge of computerized general ledger and subsidiary systems with an understanding of the flow of information and the ability to recommend enhancements and modifications as necessary. Skill in utilizing personal computer spreadsheet and word processing applications to prepare reports and presentations, to analyze financial data and prepare communications to various university personnel. Skill in analyzing information, practices or systems to identify problems, identify patterns, trends and relationships, formulate logical and objective conclusions, recognize alternatives and their implications, and prepare reports. Demonstrated competence in accounting and business practices to advise department personnel regarding pertinent issues. Written communication skills to prepare clear and concise correspondence at a level appropriate for the intended audience. Oral communication skills to correspond with various levels of University personnel and ability to deliver oral presentations. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff within the Accounting department, with other office personnel and with outside departments. Demonstrated skill in leading professional personnel including the delegation of responsibility, motivation and development of professional skills and attitudes. Ability to evaluate impact on workload of projects and to meet specified deadlines. Ability to work independently in setting priorities to ensure that responsibilities are carried out in an accurate and timely fashion. Ability to adjust working hours and, if necessary, work overtime to meet the needs of the office and reporting deadlines. Working knowledge of Lawson system preferred.
