Refer Save Apply Job ID: MLW-16946 Description:Grant Funded Position Position Overview: Coordinates the forensic nurse examiner program in collaboration with the Abuse/Domestic Violence team. Supervises Forensic Nurse Examiners Recruits and supervises staff on a regular basis and ensures 24/7 coverage Directing, assigning and reviewing work Interviewing, hiring and terminating Scheduling Provides guidance for the team Conducts performance evaluations and maintains employee folders Provides 24/7 back-up support Program Development Implements 24/7 forensic program aligned with best practice standards Completes all programmatic requirements Provide support needed to expand forensic scope Ensure program is meeting all goals and objectives and is spending finances appropriately. Works in conjunction with Abuse/DV Coordinator Forensic exams Provides specialized forensic examinations for victims of abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault Provides injury identification and treatment using digital photography&alternative light source for identification/documentation of injuries Provides evidence collection while maintaining chain of custody according to regulatory guidelines Provides prophylactics treatment for sexually transmitted infection; pregnancy prevention options; and specific information regarding HIV testing, Hepatitis screening and counseling Provides follow-up and discharge instructions Provides emotional and social support resources Documents according to regulatory guidelines Collects and enters statistical information for grant and reporting purposes. Ensure all waivers and consent forms are signed and entered per policy. Provides follow-up within 48 hours to address any concerns Provides expert witness testimony as required Advocacy Collaborates with internal and external agencies and resources. Coordinates with Abuse and Domestic Violence Specialists to provide victim centered care Has proficient knowledge of local resources and victims rights Maintains working relationship with community partners Provides consultation, education, and coordination services to advocacy, medical and legal agencies. Attends monthly Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) meetings Training Provides training throughout the entire health system and in the local community Maintains up to date training materials, including PowerPoint presentations Provide regular updates to staff regarding program scope. Conducts presentations locally and nationally on a variety of topics related to forensics Minimum Qualifications: BSN with current Maryland Licensure as a Registered Nurse. Minimum of 3 years experience as a Registered Nurse to include 2 years experience as a Forensic Nurse Examiner Required License:Current Maryland Licensure as a Registered Nurse Required Certification:FNE, BLS/CPR Minimum Physical Requirements: Heavy (same as other RN positions) Working Conditions: There is reasonable anticipation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
