SUMMARYManage the day to day operations of the Claims Processing team. The core functions of this unit include preparation and distribution of correspondence, appointment scheduling, and maintaining accurate claim records within EMPLOYERS claim system. The Supervisor will provide structure, direction and support to staff to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks related to regional claim files. In addition, the Supervisor will ensure staff is focused on providing excellent customer service to both internal&external customers by managing a combination of people, process, and technology in accordance with company procedures and applicable state statutes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Monitor the daily workload and assign individual staff to ensure timely completion of each task/diary.2. Select, manage, develop, coach, and motivate staff members.3. Provide regularly scheduled one on one coaching to all team members.4. Conduct regularly scheduled department/team meetings.5. Prepare performance appraisals, address performance concerns timely and make salary recommendations in accordance with company guidelines.6. Create an environment that fosters teamwork, values diversity, and supports and respects all team members.7. Monitor volume and trends; make real-time and/or long-term process adjustments as necessary and alert management as appropriate.8. Review operating procedures regularly and maintain appropriate work standards.9. Provide the resources, tools, and training to achieve optimal results in accordance with operating procedures and regulatory guidelines.10. Establish and communicate individual and team objectives.11. Perform quality and production audits and report results to staff, management, and internal customers.12. Gather feedback from internal and external customers to ensure claim processing procedures meet the statutory requirements of the business.13. Respond in a timely manner to customer requests and handle escalated customer service issues as required.14. Compile and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly statistical data and report to individual team members, team, and management, as appropriate.15. Participate in strategic and budgetary planning.WORKING CONDITIONSThis job operates in a professional office environment; this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.This is largely a sedentary role; however, some mobility is required.Regularly provides information to and receives information from/through various technologies, media, sources and contacts. Must be able to accurately exchange information in these situationsOccasionally lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 poundsOccasional travel to other office locations/meeting locations may be requiredAfter hours and weekend work may be required MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum 1 year supervisory experience.4 years Workers Compensation claim experienceStrong leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skillsExceptional organizational and time management skillsStrong analytical, verbal and written communication skillsProficient with MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and OutlookExperience with and propensity to learn evolving technologyMaintain the highest level of confidentialityGood judgment to determine the best approach in ambiguous situationsDemonstrates initiative and the ability to meet established deadlines PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIREDExperience with a Claims record keeping systemAssociates Degree
