Office Assistant VI (Financial Aid Assistant)University of San FranciscoJob Summary:This position reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid. In addition to the general duties associated with the Office Assistant VI, the Financial Aid Assistant supports the Financial Aid Office by performing a variety of complex to difficult tasks within one or more financial aid administrative functions. In addition, the Office Assistant VI provides guidance and interpretation on policies and procedures as they relate to University, state and federal student aid programs. The Office Assistant VI may hire, train and arrange work and time schedules for student employees. Occasional evening and Saturday work hours may be required.Job Responsibilities:Provides financial aid customer service and advising to students and families in person, by phone, and through emailRetrieves and responds to staff/faculty phone line calls and forwards to appropriate financial aid staff when necessaryCoordinates immigration, citizenship, and selective service registration verification, contacts applicants regarding submission of requirements, submits documentation to outside agencies for clearance and/or verifies eligibility on own, removes appropriate holds, and processes applicants into group assignments for packagingAssists with Cal grant related processingAssists with private loan processingAssists with outside scholarshipprocessingResponsible for processing Federal Parent, Graduate, and Law PLUS Loan application data and creating loan origination recordsProcesses anticipated enrollment, cost of attendance, and loan adjustments in response to student requestsResponsible for tracking completed Perkins and Nursing Promissory notesResponsible for accessing loan entrance and exit counseling completion information and entering into student trackingReceives and tracks appropriate documentation of high school graduation requirements.Assists with the review of cancellation and leave of absence reports and makes necessary financial aid cancellations.Coordinates the review of incoming email, mail, faxes, and in-person form submissions for Financial Aid and any appropriate distribution to other offices.Coordinates the timely ordering and maintenance of office suppliesAssists with the design and implementation of financial aid forms and publicationsHire, train, and supervise student assistantsPerforms other duties/projects as assignedMinimum Requirements:Must be customer service and team orientedMust be able to work in a team/group environmentFinancial Aid office experience highly preferredPost high school education preferredAbility to delegate, train and motivate students and junior level staffExcellent written and oral communication skillsMust demonstrate familiarity with or ability to learn and interpret policies and proceduresAdvanced experience working with computer database systems, word processing and spreadsheet software.Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:For information on how to apply, please visit the following link:EEO PolicyThe University of San Francisco is an equal opportunity institution of higher education.
