Actuary

General Description:

This position manages our current and future states in all product lines of insurance by performing rate reviews, preparation of rate filings, performing actuarial studies as assigned, and responding to inquiries from regulatory departments. This position has direct responsibility for up to one or two direct reports at the analyst or senior analyst level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage the rate filing process for current and future states and lines of business.
• Manage competing internal interests with respect to rate filings
• Manage ratemaking, reserving and financial analysis projects as assigned
• Interact as needed with relevant regulatory authorities on filings
• Provide data in support of actuarial, product and underwriting initiatives
• Manage teams of actuarial analysts
• Present results and conclusions of analysis to other departments and senior management.
• Testify as required in support of rate filings

Education and Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Minimum of 5 years of actuarial experience.
• Practical experience with tools for predictive analytics
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Access and Excel
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word and Powerpoint
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Advanced presentation skills
• Work extremely well independently
• Project management skills
• Lead project teams both with and without formal reporting authority
• Ability to work with multiple competing priorities.

Licenses and / or Certifications:

• Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS) highly desired.
• Commitment to attain Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS).
