Knight Insurance Group, a privately-owned property & casualty Insurance group with total assets of over $1 billion, has an exciting opportunity for a career-minded and detailed oriented individual to join a progressive and entrepreneurial insurance group.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews and assists in negotiating and drafting contracts other corporate transactions.
- Reviews regulatory/licensing compliance nationwide, including applying for and maintaining licenses and authority to conduct business.
- Effectively acquire, assemble and manage legal documents and files responsive to time-sensitive inquiries.
- Draft complex legal documentation including, but not limited to summaries of significant regulatory developments, legislative history, and case law.
- Review performance and assist in the management of outside counsel and negotiate skillfully to achieve desirable outcomes.
- Works in conjunction with the Claims Department to ensure proper claims handling and bill review.
- Reviews and response to all regulatory and customer complaints.
- Oversees internal processes and attempts to resolve without litigation.
- Coordinates with other departments to advance program development.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILL& LICENSES:
- Knowledge of state laws and regulations relevant to the operation of an insurance company.
- Represented insurers in claims related actions.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with Program Insurance and Reinsurance.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Demonstrate ability in reviewing and negotiating a wide range of contracts.
- Work in a team-oriented environment and meet tight deadlines and prioritize projects with limited supervision.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Juris Doctor from a nationally-recognized accredited law school.
- Membership in California Bar.
- Minimum 3 years law firm and/or corporate counsel experience in the insurance industry, preferably with transactional experience.
MACHINES, OFFICE EQUIPMENT& SOFTWARE:
- Westlaw, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook
Compensation:
- Salary Exempt commensurate with experience and skills.
