Success in this position will depend upon your ability to find new business opportunities, cultivate relationships, and demonstrate advantages that lead to closing sales. This position requires a high level of motivation, drive, and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively generates new sales through leads generated from client referrals, insurance companies, telemarketing, community activities, attending social and business affiliations, and cold calling to obtain expiration dates and other information to turn leads into prospects and clients.
  • Participates in company and agency sales contests.
  • In coordination with the Profit Center Leader, establish annual sales and revenue goals along with detailed plans on how these goals will be reached.
  • Regular attendance and participation at sales, marketing and other scheduled meetings.
  • Submits complete applications on potential accounts and renewals to Account Executive, presents proposals to prospects and clients, closes sales, completes exposure analysis and delivers policies.
  • Responsible for collection of all premiums, including audits made subsequent to policy issuance, on all new and renewal accounts produced.
  • Maintain open channels of communication with the Sales Manager, Profit Center leader, other account executives, marketing department, managers, account analyst, office support staff and company underwriters.
  • Keeps informed of industry developments through completion of prescribed insurance courses and seminars.
  • Pursues a program of personal and professional development.
  • Performs other specific duties and projects as assigned by the Sales Manager and/or Executive Vice President.

Requirements

  • Holds required and appropriate insurance agent’s license, helpful.
  • Successful sales record, either in insurance industry or in another industry, helpful.
  • Demonstrates persuasion and negotiation skills.
  • High degree of self-discipline, motivation, sense of urgency, and competitiveness.
  • Technical education, (CPCU, CIC, company courses) helpful, and a willingness to continue education essential.
  • Willing and able to travel extensively and to attend agent’s conventions and other industry meetings, if so instructed.
  • Well-groomed and neat appearance.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • High School Diploma.
  • College degree preferred.
