Principle Duties and Responsibilities
• This is a staff position involved in the underwriting and assessment of applications for new business, renewals and endorsements for acceptability in accordance with company guidelines and standards by utilizing sound underwriting and risk management techniques.
• Candidate will be proactive development of assigned territories to ensure that production goals are met • Candidate will develop or modify policy wording when standard text is not appropriate.
• Monitor the amount of insurance in force on single risks and categories of closely related risks, and evaluates possibility of losses from any and all perils include those of a catastrophic nature.
• Consult with company representatives, insurance brokers, and other insurance or inspection companies to obtain further information, quotes rates, or explain company underwriting in policies
• Establish and maintain relationships with brokers and clients to understand and responds to their needs in addition to serving as an underwriter and assistant underwriter
• Achieving goals and annual business goals based on appropriately decision making through sound risk evaluation.
Qualifications and Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training
• A minimum of 7-10 years as a casualty lines underwriter with in-depth knowledge of insurance, products and marketing techniques, insurance contracts, funding and rating CPCU, AU, ARM, CIC designated highly preferred.
• Advanced analytical skills to interpret business information drawn from multiple sources to make critical account decisions regarding quality of risk.
• Must possess extremely effective interpersonal skills with solid ability to build and manage relationships with Agents, Brokers, customers and other employees.
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
• Excellent organizational skills
