P&C Product Manager

Centauri Specialty Insurance is currently seeking an experienced candidate to fill the Property and Casualty Product Manager position that will be a team member of our Personal and Commercial Lines Product team. 

We are a growing property and casualty insurance carrier with a current staff of 40 experienced insurance professionals working together to create effective products to meet the needs of our policyholders.  We offer Homeowners, Dwelling Fire, Tenants, Condominium, Businessowners, and Commercial Residential products in multiple states.  Our new state-of-the-art building is in Sarasota, Florida, 50 miles south of Tampa. 

Position Overview
This P&C Product Manager will collaborate with other Centauri business units and Product team members, as well as Managing General Agency partners, and various third-party consultants and vendors, to set the strategy for and shape the structure of Centauri’s products. 

The P&C Product Manager will be accountable for enhancing business performance by assessing, developing, and effectively implementing coverage, pricing, underwriting and other product solutions that capitalize on identified profit and growth opportunities for the states and products assigned. 

This includes developing new forms, making changes to existing forms, developing and revising rate and underwriting manuals, and completing filing packages delivered to Departments of Insurance in a timely manner in order to meet implementation timeframes.

Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered:

A successful candidate will have a

  • Minimum of 5 years’ personal lines property experience, including experience in preparation and submission of filings to Departments of Insurance.
  • Commercial product experience a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) from a four-year college or university.

Primary duties and responsibilities include the following.   Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Researches and develops products, including rate manuals, forms, and underwriting manuals.
  • Researches and assesses how Centauri compares to competitors and to the overall market and makes recommendations to improve position. 
  • Reviews, evaluates, enhances, and refines products.
  • Leads the rate review process, including preparing the filings and state required supporting documents, serving as liaison to the Departments of Insurance, and providing guidance to systems.
  • Leads the implementation of new state programs and products to support corporate goals.
  • Collaborates with Actuarial and Underwriting on rate needs for each state and product. 
  • Shares product expertise with members of the Centauri team, as well as with partners, agents and others as needed. 
  • Contributes to development of training materials and presentations.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • A demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of trends in personal lines property products and rates. 
  • Experience in the creation and development of new products.
  • Background in underwriting and insurance operations desired. 
  • Highly detail-oriented and possessing strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) is a must. 
  • Demonstrated business judgment and analytical creativity will make the successful candidate stand out from the crowd.
