Position Summary:
Lead product development initiatives for the Property and Casualty contract binding business unit. In partnership with the leadership team, the position will lead the efforts to evaluate market opportunities, to analyze product enhancement options, and to review competitor offerings.
Job Duties:
The following is an overview of the areas of responsibility:
- Work with the Underwriting, Actuarial, IT, Legal, Claim and Compliance departments to lead efforts to enhance and develop existing/new products, forms, rates, guidelines and underwriting systems.
- Measure and enhance success, competitiveness and profitability of current product suite.
- Aid in the development and maintenance of tools to create efficiencies in every aspect of the underwriting process.
- Assist in the training of MGA customers and Hallmark underwriters in the implementation and use of underwriting products and tools.
- Analyze and interpret competitor data, products and industry information regarding new product strategies to be considered.
- Monitor competitors’ products, and services as well as industry best practices to identify opportunities for improvement.
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
Successful candidates must possess strong analytical skills, be self-directed with strong organization and time management skills necessary to manage conflicting priorities. The following are key requirements:
- Strong Casualty experience in a contract binding business unit
- Detailed oriented with the ability to work in a team environment and be flexible to daily changing needs and job duties.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Ability to analyze and problem solve, working closely with others to coordinate and complete projects.
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be customer service oriented, highly organized and efficient.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to make and execute data-driven decisions.
- Ability to analyze and interpret rates, data and trends.
- Solid understanding of competitive analysis data sources and tools.
- Understanding of techniques and models used to forecast insurance financials.
- Able to access available sources of insurance industry trend information
- Computer Skills Required – Advanced Microsoft Office skills
