Job DescriptionObjective Roanoke Claims is searching for a motivated, positive individual to join our team as a Marine Claims Resolution Specialist. As a Marine Claim Specialist, you will have the opportunity to utilize your investigative and negotiation skills in a very fast paced environment while helping to protect our assured interests along with Underwriters. This position concentrates on all types of transportation claims including, but not limited to, shipper s interest, bill of lading legal liability, contingent liability, bailee, warehouse liability under a Cargo policy and provides the opportunity for growth, education, training and success. Location Schaumburg, IL Qualifications Specific technical knowledge/capability for this position: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Professional designations preferred (P&C or Adjuster). An understanding of insurance basics, transportation or transit, preferred. Strong analytical skills and ability to make decisions, problem solve and think on your feet. Ability to influence parties in the claims process to resolve claims. Proficiency with written and oral communication. Ability to provide information in a clear, concise manner with an appropriate level of detail, empathy and professionalism. Strong organizational skills to maintain paperwork in an orderly and accurate manner. Ability to build relationships and work as part of a team in a positive and professional manner. Ability to function effectively in an office environment. Experience in standard office programs (Windows, Word, Excel) and strong aptitude for learning computer systems. Job Functions and Responsibilities The environment is fast paced and the daily activities include: Entering of claims, acknowledging of new claims, investigation of the loss and the communication with assured, claimants and vendors. Developing the knowledge and skills to conduct thorough investigations.make decisions about validity and compensability, evaluate losses, negotiate settlements, manage an inventory of a cargo claims involving damage or loss in transit. Evaluate policy coverage, contact insured s, and claimants, to determine damages while determining and establishing reserve requirements. Maintain accurate records and handle administrative responsibilities associated with processing and payment of claims. Records and updates status notes and documents claim facts and conversations per the policy and procedures of Roanoke. Determine the need for independent experts and evaluate claim for potential fraud. Use IT systems/maintain records (electronic or otherwise) as required by claims Participate in in-house training as applicable and provided.
