CLAIM SERVICES CONSULTANT
St. Charles, IL

Salary Range: $101,819 - $117,092 - $132,365

Description: Develops and executes claim service plans (including special handling instructions) in assigned geographic territory for a book of large commercial lines (CL) customers with premiums over $250,000. Manages business relationship between customer, agent and Westfield. Collaborates with the customer, agent and internal business partners to understand the claims specific expectations and needs of all parties. Gathers, organizes, and analyzes data and results to identify and report performance, trends, and opportunities; makes recommendations regarding areas of improvement. Creates reports and communicates results with customers, agents, and interested business partners.

Essential Functions (not an all inclusive list):
1. Claim Services Operations - Develops and executes claims service plans in assigned geographic territory for a book of large commercial lines (CL) customers with premiums over $250,000. Facilitates claim reviews, provides consultative services to improve management of claims or reduce exposures, and acts as a claims advocate for customers, agents, and Westfield. Collaborates on development and delivery of risk management goals and services to the customer that facilitate loss prevention and mitigation improvements.
2. Collaboration - Collaborates with the customer, agent and internal business partners to understand the claims specific expectations and needs of all parties. Partners with internal service team (underwriter, risk control, claims professionals) to develop the customer profile and negotiate an overall service plan that meets the needs of Westfield, claims, the customer, agent, and CL business unit and other vested stakeholders. Shares and manages the special handling instructions (SHI's).
3. Data Analysis/Claim Review Process - Gathers, organizes, and analyzes performance data and results to identify and report performance, trends, and opportunities; makes recommendations regarding areas of improvement. Creates reports and communicates results with customers, agents, and interested business partners. This includes scheduled claim reviews - creating the agenda, developing meeting materials, and facilitating discussion on the key claims files and trends. Promptly follows up on action items identified during the meeting.
4. Customer Service - Ensures customer service excellence. Responsible for the customer and agent experience associated with assigned territory. Gains understanding of customer's operations, loss exposures, safety programs, and insurance programs to support underwriting in assessment process, improve account relationship and appropriately direct service needs to key claims or risk issues.
5. Communication - Maintains effective and ongoing communication with customers, agents, claims department leaders and staff, internal and external business partners as needed. Acts as a single point of contact for claims questions, disputes or issues associated with assigned customers. Acts as an impartial advocate for all parties; gains an understanding of the issues, researches options, and facilitates a successful resolution.
6. Claim Services Marketing - Teams with internal business partners in meeting prospective customers with large commercial accounts. Markets the benefits and capabilities of the claims services program. Develops understanding of the prospective customer's claims service expectations, answers questions, and clarifies how Westfield's services meet their needs.
7. Business Planning/Strategy Meetings - Participates in key business meetings with internal/external business partners in assigned territory including the following: renewal meetings, new business meetings, agency visits, and claims meetings.
8. Industry Research/Best Practices - Participates in professional industry groups and stays abreast of industry changes, advancements, and jurisdictional issues to communicate, develop, and incorporate best practices into the claims business. Shares new information, best practices, and processes.
9. Travel - Travels as often as needed including regular utilization of assigned fleet vehicle in order to cover assigned territory. This may involve traveling on short notice or other daily driving duties as assigned regardless of location.

Desired Qualifications:
1. 5 or more years of insurance industry experience.
2. Multi-line casualty, property, and/or workers compensation insurance experience.
3. Experience with claims handling and/or claims management processes.
4. Ability to travel extensively throughout the calendar year, including overnight business trips as needed.
5. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, resulting in the ability to interact with all levels of employees within the organization, customers and business partners.
6. Excellent analytical, tracking, and monitoring skills. Ability to collect and analyze data, identify trends, establish facts, and recommend solutions.
7. Strong organization and facilitation skills.
8. Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment, and software packages.
9. Industry recognized designation (i.e. CPCU, CIC, AIC, or SCLA).
10. Bachelor's Degree or commensurate experience.
11. Valid driver's license and a driving record that conforms to company standards.

* Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing and working on a computer for extended periods of time).
* Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as: telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail etc.
* Ability to travel as required.
* Ability to operate an automobile within the parameters of the driving policy.
