Business Enablement Analyst (Underwriting Resource Analyst)
Westfield Center, OH

Salary Range: $73,136 - $84,107 - $95,077

Description: 
The Underwriting Resource Analyst is responsible for managing underwriting tools and resources that are supported by the Commercial Underwriting Office (CUO), enabling and developing operational processes within the CUO, and experimenting with new tools and products. This position drives and advocates creation of measurable advancements in our business capabilities through process improvement, development and improvement of tools, and driving and/or providing subject matter expertise for business requirement processes. This role may also serve as a technical liaison to both internal and external partners regarding CUO and underwriting tools and operations. The Underwriting Resource Analyst is dedicated to providing effective, centralized, accessible, integrated, and easy-to-use tools and resources.

Essential Functions (not an all inclusive list):
*  Manages and provides functional/technical support for the underwriting tools and resources utilized by sales and underwriting teams and underwriting office.
*  Leads or acts as a consultant with internal customers to develop new business processes or refine existing business processes. May help to develop communication material, define supporting procedures and standards, document training materials, and assist in the initial training effort.
*  Develops and tests tools, programs, and resources that enable efficient and effective improvements in business capabilities.
*  Schedules, deploys, and supports the various systems, tools, and software utilized by the underwriting function.
*  Serves as a CUO technical resource for development, improvement, and deployment of tools and resources.
*  Executes support procedures and standards for individual tools and resources.
*  Creates and maintains databases/data sources, which support underwriting tools and resources.
*  Serves as technical liaison between the CUO and applicable architecture portfolios.
*  Serves as a resource on for various CUO initiatives.
*  Travels occasionally in order to participate in special assignments, training, and/or travel between office locations.

Desired Qualifications:
*  Five years of multiline commercial or personal underwriting experience and/or five years of experience in data analysis or information systems.
*  Knowledge of property and casualty insurance products, distribution and pricing strategies.
*  Experience in project management, or developing and communicating business needs and project specifications.
*  Experience with application development processes.
*  Conceptual knowledge of multiple application architectures.
*  Experience in defining and developing processes.
*  Working knowledge of data analysis, database concepts, data transformation, business intelligence, and report generation tools.
*  Demonstrates abilities both as a strategic and as a tactical thinker and perceives the impact and implications of decisions on other areas of the organization.
*  Demonstrated strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
*  Ability to analyze problems and perform basic financial analysis.
*  Bachelor's degree in Insurance, Risk Management, Business, Information Technology, or Computer Science or commensurate experience.
*  Strong initiative and work management skills.
*  Experience in Office automation using VBA, scripting (Windows, VB, Java), or SQL (MS Access and DB2).
*  Experience with word processing, presentation, Internet, spreadsheet, and other standard office automation software packages.
*  Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record as defined by Westfield's fleet safety program.

*  Ability to work effectively in an office environment for 40+ hours per week (including sitting, standing and working on a computer for extended periods of time).
*  Ability to communicate effectively in a collaborative work environment utilizing various technologies such as: telephone, computer, web, voice, teleconferencing, e-mail, etc.
*  Ability to travel as required.
*  Ability to operate an automobile within the parameters of the driving policy.
