Job Overview Utilizes expert knowledge in lending products and convenient services to accurately and efficiently underwrite a variety of loan products. Assists internal staff by telephone and provides friendly, helpful service. Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities: Provides friendly, helpful service that assists internal staff through: Maintaining knowledge of TruStone s products and processes. Taking responsibility for providing timely response to internal staff and outside contacts. Recommending the best solution to strengthen the member s financial well-being. Underwriting the loan request accurately and efficiently by gathering necessary information, verifying necessary loan details, and working with internal staff on terms and conditions. Utilizes expert knowledge to underwrite consumer loans following established underwriting criteria and lending policies and procedures. Provides lending education and training to internal staff in consumer loan matters, including: Understanding the entire lending process including procedures and standards Interviewing and origination Explaining credit granting analysis methods Effective loan closings Interpreting a credit report Reviews loans referred for denial. Explains underwriting decisions to employees in a manner that will assist them with respectfully informing the member. Process loan payment corrections. Review originated loan files for underwriting accuracy. Secures the credit union s assets by following established underwriting guidelines and internal controls. Maintains up to date knowledge and adheres to all regulations, policies, procedures, and standards that pertain to this position. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Satisfactory completion of pre-employment screening Must meet SAFE ACT registration requirements High school diploma or equivalent Bachelor s Degree or an equivalent level of knowledge, skills, and abilities typically acquired through work experience. Two years of in-person member contact as a Member Services Representative, Lending Services Representative or equivalent experience serving members. Two years of experience underwriting loans in a financial environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience recommending products and solutions to improve a member s financial position. Expert knowledge of banking and/or credit union regulations.
