JOB TITLE:SR. Claims AdjusterDEPARTMENT:ClaimsREPORTS TO:Claims DirectorFLSA STATUS:ExemptSUMMARY:Investigates, analyzes, and determines the extent of the company's liability concerning property loss or damages, and attempts to effect settlement with insureds. Corresponds with or interviews insureds, witnesses, or others to compile information. Calculates payments and approves payment of claims within a certain monetary limit. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInterviews and/ or corresponds with insureds and/or claimants. May include inspecting property damage to determine extent of damage or liability; Investigate and assess damage to property; handle more complex and/or severe losses. Examine policy and other records to determine insurance coverage; Analyze information gathered by investigation and report findings and recommendations; Handle, investigate, and determine settlement for property damage (1 st party) and liability claims (3 rd party); Document findings of investigation in PTS system; Collect evidence to support contested claims; Refer questionable claims to the Claims Director; Negotiate claim settlements with insureds and/or claimants; Assist claims Director in training claims team; Assure regulatory compliance for all claims handled; Incumbents must be available to work Cat Duty in the event of catastrophic declaration by the company. Perform other duties as assigned. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals using a wide degree of creativity and latitude. Professional Claims Adjuster license (6-20) required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business contracts, estimates, periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of information furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule format. Individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software and other related business software.
