As a company that offers clear and transparent financing to consumers, we are extremely attentive to ensuring that our merchant partnerships are successful for Affirm, our merchants, and most importantly our customers.As a Merchant Risk Analyst in Affirm s Credit team, you will lead ourefforts in risk assessment, monitoring, and mitigation of various types of merchant portfolio risk for our core lending products. Our merchant partners encompass a variety of industries and business models, ranging from smaller VC-backed e-commerce startups to multibillion dollar publicly-traded enterprises. What You'll DoDeal Underwriting: Use business credit reports, financial statements, investigative research tools, and financial market data to conduct financial and non-financial risk assessment of Affirm s merchants as they are prospected, signed and onboarded by Affirm s Sales and Account Management teams Portfolio Monitoring: Conduct ongoing monitoring of credit, fraud, and dispute/chargeback trends by merchant in order to detect changes and anomalies from expected performance Project Management: Work with Affirm s Credit and Account Management teams to implement appropriate risk management strategies for complex or high risk exposure situations before they become major loss events Business Process Optimization: Work cross-functionally with our FP&A, Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Operations teams to design and document processes, controls, and procedures to streamline operations and manage Affirm s merchant risk exposure What We Look ForThe ideal candidate has 3-5 years experience in Merchant/Seller Risk, Credit Risk, and/or Underwriting at a high-growth Payments or E-Commerce company. Experience managing a small team is a plus BA/BS degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent experience Analytical Skillset: Comfortable using SQL, Python, and MS Excel for building shell scripting tools, conducting recurring and ad-hoc analyses of large data sets, and presenting your findings to others Ownership Mentality and Judgment: Consistently demonstrate appropriate follow-up action in the event of risk identification; demonstrate a sense of accountability, urgency, and execution of risk mitigation until complete resolution Structured and Organized: Ability to apply sound rationale in making complex risk decisions in an ambiguous and fast-paced environment; applies a curious and critical approach for investigation of financial and non-financial risk Communication Skills: Ability to communicate points of view on complex and challenging topics professionally with supporting rationale; ability to communicate complex and sensitive information to cross-functional stakeholders with appropriate clarity and discretion At Affirm we are using technology to re-imagine and re-build core parts of financial infrastructure to enable cheaper, friendlier and more transparent financial products and services that improve lives.
