Hourly Examiner/Senior Examiner FISC DEPARTMENT SUMMARY OF THE JOB: An excellent opportunity exists for an hourly examiner in the Financial Institution Supervision Credit (FISC). The purpose of the hourly examiner program is to augment our full-time Examiner staff withexperienced individuals who can conduct exam duties or perform analytical assignments on an as-needed basis, not to exceed 780 hours per year. Hourly Examiners may be used as needed by all Division areas. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES: Examiners work in teams to complete on-site examinations under the direction of an Examiner-in-Charge. Specific duties of a safety and soundness examiner include: Analyzing financial condition and operating performance, including capital, earnings, liquidity, and sensitivity to market risk.. Assessing management performance and the effectiveness of risk management practices. Evaluating asset quality by performing credit analysis of the loan and securities portfolios. Determining the effectiveness of an institution s control environment, including internal audit, accounting, credit review, and other related activities. Integrating reviews of specialty areas into the overall risk assessment of an institution (e.g., information technology and fiduciary risks). Assessing compliance with laws and regulations related to banking organizations, including Regulations K, O, Y, and W, the Bank Secrecy Act, and the USA PATRIOT Act. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: An applicant for employment must be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or hold a permanent resident/green card with intent to become a U.S. Citizen An examiner commission from a federal or state banking supervisor is preferred Bachelors degree in business or a related field, including coursework in accounting and finance An understanding of business risks and banking principles Strong oral and written communication skills Intermediate to advanced familiarity with the following Microsoft software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point Ability to work independently and as part of a team BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES: Candidates for the position must demonstrate the following critical behavioral competencies: * Good Judgment - The ability to take responsibility for personal performance and for delivering results, which include: gathering information; considering a number of options using if-then analysis; seeking input and guidance from others when needed to accomplish work; and, reaching conclusions that are supported by factual data. * Conceptual Thinking The ability to identify situations that are similar to past situations or to identify connections among situations that are not obviously related, and to use that recognition to address the situation at hand. * Teamwork & Cooperation The ability to work cooperatively with others, share information and work effectively together toward a common goal. * Flexibility The ability to change and adapt in response to situations as they develop, be comfortable changing course, make decisions or take action when all of the facts may not be known or when there are no precedents or policies to guide them. * Confidence The ability to select an effective approach to a situation.
