CapSpecialty® is seeking an experienced Senior Claims Specialist working out of our office in Middleton, WI, or Glastonbury, CT.
This highly motivated individual will investigate, evaluate and resolve casualty claims and auto claims as assigned. This position also requires the management of vendors (potentially to include TPA oversight), management of costs and overall litigation management as well as representing the Company in connection with claim resolution including settlement conferences and mediations. Prompt communication with various internal and external stakeholders and compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements including fair claims practices is also a responsibility of the Senior Claims Specialist.
The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical knowledge of insurance coverage and policies, insurance law, tort law, and claims handling practices and techniques for casualty and auto lines of business. We are seeking someone with highly refined skills in communicating, negotiating, organizing, analyzing, problem solving, and decision-making. In addition, resiliency, the ability to operate under pressure in high complexity, high risk situations, and the ability to respond rapidly to changing work conditions and expectations is a must. This position requires travel approximately 15% of the time, primarily for mediations.
Successful candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 10 years claims handling experience, or equivalent. Must possess at least one current adjuster license from a requiring state. Juris Doctorate and/or advanced industry certification(s) (e.g. RPLU, CPCU, AIC) is strongly preferred. Claim handling or litigation experience specifically in casualty and commercial auto desired. Previous experience managing TPAs helpful.
