Business Systems Analyst

Job Summary: 

Partner with Internal Clients and other IT Departments to maintain the best and most reliable software solutions to help improve the efficiencies of our users (internal and external) and the profitability of MSA.  Assist clients with business requirements as needed.  Responsible for converting Internal Client business needs and application enhancement requests into system requirements that can be adequately coded and tested.  Translate approved business requirements into functional designs, accounting for the entire business process or workflow, including integrations with downstream systems. Drive the alignment of business and functional requirements with the technical design of the application(s) and traceability documentation, ensuring delivery of efficient and reliable software solutions. Follow MSA’s standard SDLC and IT Governance Processes.  Participate in test plan walkthrough(s) to ensure that all business and functional requirements are accounted for in test planning and execution.  When required, test software or coordinate a testing environment. Where required, work to provide enterprise-wide solutions throughout MSA.  Provide analysis and troubleshooting support for production problems related to the assigned application(s).  Assist clients with workload prioritization and management.  Plan, manage, and report (metrics) on all workload activities.  Manage vendor activities as needed.  Manage production problem determination, remediation, and reporting. 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or other related field preferred; minimum of Associates degree or combination of secondary education and/or other related continuing education (CCBA, CBAP, Six Sigma, etc.) and comparable, progressive experience.
  • Minimum of six years progressive experience in release administration.
  • Knowledge of Bonds and/or Property & Casualty insurance is preferred but not required.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of analytical processes, best practices and industry business analysis, development and design standards.​
  • Ability to apply change management techniques with regard to applications; experience with ColdFusion, SQL, preferred, as well as knowledge of Web Application Development, Architecture and Common Practices.
  • Experience and proven ability to Identify and document job processes and problems using structured, analytical skills. Identify, document, and facilitate resolution of functional system errors – including defining, determining the cause, formulating the solution(s) and making recommendations to address the error.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; must possess ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the company with internal and external customers, vendors, contractors, etc., including the ability to communicate complex technical details to non-technical customers.
  • Ability to build and sustain positive and collaborative working relationships.
