CopperPoint Mutual Insurance Company is seeking a qualified candidate for a BI Manager position. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, highly technical, hands-on leader with a focus on delivery, continuous improvement, and employee engagement. We are looking for candidates that have experience in Business Intelligence and Analytics and who are capable of leading and managing both types of assets. The individual in this position will plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design, development, implementation, production support and lifecycle management of Business Intelligence solutions. This role works closely with our business partners and senior leadership to help execute on our business strategy. Thought leadership is critical in providing options to our business partners and in architecting and designing solutions.

  Responsibilities:

  • Apply proven communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of best practices to guide their team on issues related to the design, development, and deployment of mission-critical Business Intelligence and software solutions
  • Be the application owner for a specified application suite and will be responsible for application change management, vendor management, budget, system availability and security, and maintaining the knowledge base to support the applications
  • Provide hands-on involvement in all phases of the software development lifecycle including research and development of ideas and solutions, architecting and designing solutions, understanding business requirements and providing oversight throughout build and implementation
  • Plan, execute, and deliver projects according to strict deadlines and within budget; This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan
  • Define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle
  • Manage the development and new BI and Analytic solutions and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise
  • Ensure that projects meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues
  • Ensure solutions are architecturally sound and designed strategically to fit within an overall IT application strategy and support model
  • Manage and provide direction for a BI staff in support of business operations and goals
  • Manage budget and expenditures within department
  • Lead and/or participate in design presentations; influence direction and implement the most efficient and cost-effective software solutions
  • Provide leadership to analysts and programmers working on development project teams
  • Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crisis, and devise contingency plans
  • Define project objectives and oversee quality control throughout the project life cycle
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities related to the design, development, implementation, production support and lifecycle management of BI solutions.
     

  Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, or related field and 7+ years direct experience in business intelligence, software development and systems management
  • Proven experience in management including leading a team as well as a proven track record of mentoring and coaching Proven experience with creating and maintaining a data warehouse and experience with ETL tools Proven experience with BI and Visualization tools like Cognos, Business Objects, Tableau, Qlik Experience with Analytics tools is a plus Knowledge of BI trends including Big Data, Predictive Analytics, Self-Service BI, Cloud, Mobile Ability to understand business problems, research potential options and design solutions Proven project management skills and substantial exposure to project-based work structures, project lifecycle models Strong customer-service orientation and ability to build and manage business relationships. Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language Experience working with teams in an agile environment is a plus
  • Experience working with application development is a plus
