Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Life Insurance Enrollment and Licensing Specialist to join our growing team. This role is responsible for managing the full agent onboarding and contracting lifecycle, with a focus on life insurance carriers. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of life insurance products, carrier processes, and the nuances of working with IMOs, BGAs, and paramed vendors. This is a vital role supporting internal teams and external partners in delivering a smooth and compliant onboarding experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate life insurance agent contracting with multiple carriers, ensuring all licensing, E&O, AML, and background requirements are met.
- Coordinate with carriers, IMOs, and FMOs to manage appointments, escalations, and case follow-ups.
- Enter and manage applications via carrier portals.
- Oversee and schedule eMeds/parameds through vendors such as ExamOne and follow up on outstanding medical or underwriting requirements.
- Conduct agent and client screening, including license checks, NIPR reviews, and compliance validations.
- Manage contracting pipelines and dashboards using Excel and/or CRM tools; track contracting status and timelines.
- Submit and process eApplications and paper apps, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all required forms (including suitability and replacement forms).
- Navigate licensing platforms such as SureLC, NIPR, and carrier-specific portals for new appointments and renewals.
- Understand pre-appointment and just-in-time (JIT) state rules and ensure timely appointment filings.
- Maintain strong relationships with carrier new business teams, underwriters, and IMO partners to resolve issues quickly.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in life insurance contracting, licensing, or back-office support.
- Strong working knowledge of life insurance products (term, whole, IUL, GUL, final expense) and riders.
- Familiarity with carrier systems, illustration requirements, and state-specific documentation.
- Experience coordinating with IMOs/FMOs and paramed vendors.
- Proficient in Excel for reporting, data entry, and tracking agent pipelines.
- Experience with contracting systems such as SureLC, FireLight, iPipeline, or similar platforms.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with underwriting classes and risk categories (Preferred Plus, Standard, etc.).
- Knowledge of compliance requirements including AML training, CE credits, E&O insurance, and the NAIC Best Interest Rule.
- Experience working in a fast-paced agency or brokerage environment.
- Bilingual capabilities are a plus.
