UNDERWRITER - Remote - Small Business with specialty in Excess Casualty

We are a privately held boutique wholesale insurance broker operating in all 50 states. In partnership with a select group of standard lines "A" rated insurance carriers we have exclusive Purchasing Group Programs, MGA / MGU Programs and traditional Brokerage. Our network of retail agency producers spans all 50 states and the District of Columbia. We have consistently grown by double digits for the last 20 years while at the same time providing our carrier partners with wildly profitable loss ratios year in and year out. We maintain a strategic presence throughout the country by deploying Underwriters and Marketing Representatives who work on a remote basis either through a home office set up and/or a executive office. This allows us to engage the best underwriting and sales talent without having to ask them to relocate or suffer a commuter hardship. Position Overview:

As an Underwriting Team Leader you will be provided with an established book of in force business produced by geographically diverse retail agency production sources. This role requires no cold calling or travel. You will be supported by a dedicated team of assistant underwriters, accounting, sales representatives and business development personnel. Your mission is to develop a deep and meaningful professional relationship with our client base by providing them with unparalleled attentive service.

Position Responsibilities:

• Underwriter will work remotely from a home office or single person executive suite
• Underwriter will evaluate excess casualty risks for placement in our Purchasing Group (“PG” aka “RPG’) Programs, Binding Authority markets (“MGA”) or our brokerage carrier partners
• Underwriter will apply established underwriting guidelines and rates in conjunction with independent research to determine whether risk is a proper fit for any of our markets or programs
• Underwriter will work in conjunction with carrier underwriters to negotiate rates and terms for brokerage risks and/or program accounts that require carrier referral approval
• Underwriter will work with retail agents to identify the pricing, terms and conditions required to win opportunities that fit our target market
• Underwriter will provide an exceptional level of service that drives extraordinary retention and new business conversion ratios

Position Requirements:

• Demonstrated success as a remote worker aka “work from home” and/or from an Executive Office space.
• Minimum 3 years commercial Property and Casualty Underwriting experience within the last 5 years.
• Minimum 2 years of independent binding authority 
• Established track record of profitable underwriting results 
• Ability to negotiate “referral” rates and/or terms and conditions required to meet client demands while maintaining carrier profitability
• At least 3 Retail Agency Principal/Owner/Marketing Managers that will vouch for you as having provided consistent and exceptional service
• Minimum 5 years of direct servicing / underwriting for retail agencies
