Claims Adjuster

Peoples Trust Insurance Company (PTIC), a growing Florida homeowners carrier located in Deerfield Beach, FL, currently has an opportunity for an experienced in-house Claims Adjuster. This highly visible position involves reviewing and analyzing 1st party Homeowners property damage claims. Position may include some 3rd party liability claims handling.

Candidates must be familiar with homeowner insurance policies and understand how to appropriately investigate claims in order to determine coverage, scope of damage, extent of repairs, and provide timely resolution for settlement with policyholders in accordance with policy provisions and applicable insurance statutes and laws.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Interviews and/ or corresponds with insureds, claimants and/or their representatives.  While position is in-house, a limited number of claims may involve field inspections of property damage to determine extent of damage or liability;
• Investigate and assess all types of damage to property, including complex issues and/or severe losses.
• Handles 1st party property damage, reviews expert’s reports regarding cause of loss and extent of damage, reviews estimates and invoices.
• Examines insurance policy and other records to determine insurance coverage;
• Incumbents must be available to work “Cat Duty" in the event of catastrophic declaration by the company.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Professional 6-20 or 5-20 Claims Adjuster license (Absolute Requirement).        
• High school diploma (Associate’s Degree in a related area preferred) and five or more years’ related company experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and training. 
• Current Florida homeowner’s insurance claims experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software and other related business software.

• Experience working with property claims;

• Interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, customer service, critical thinking, and creativity skill sets.
