THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN: New Hartford New York or Remote

Position Summary:  Perform complex research and analysis to support business operations.  Develop recommendations to address problems/issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

   Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the development of profitable products for areas of responsibility by tracking high-impact state insurance bureaus and ISO rate changes, analyzing profit/loss results for existing products and reviewing actuarial trend analyses to recommend rate changes and optimize pricing and coverage programs
  • Implement a comprehensive approach to rate change assessments by pulling, integrating and analyzing data from multiple systems and conducting competitive analysis to identify and recommend changes that increase organizational profitability, achieve target returns and enhance market position
  • Facilitate Product and Underwriting compliance by monitoring state-specific insurance programs, aligning recommendations with changing regulations by collaborative with Underwriting to ensure rates and pricing reflect current regulatory guidelines and enhance competitive position.
  • Support key stakeholders across the organization by collaborating with Senior Leadership, Underwriting, Actuarial, Information Technology (IT) and Sales and Marketing to inform on rate changes, clarify and resolve issues and implement efficient delivery of product modification notices to key stakeholders
  • Facilitate a team-oriented approach to product rating operations by collaborating with IT to coordinate and oversee rating system changes and communicating with senior team leaders to influence the adoption of recommended rate modifications and contribute to ad-hoc projects as required

  Secondary Responsibilities

  • Analyze and present findings both inside and outside the organization.
  • Conducting research into proposed solutions regarding data quality issues as well as for the development of new reports or applications
  • Manage the quality control of regional personal lines teams, ensuring adherence to company underwriting policies and procedures
  • Proactively assists with the identification of training and development requirements of the Business Unit. Presents findings, and works with Business Unit Leader and other personnel to design and implement training and development initiatives that will continuously upgrade the skills and capabilities of personnel in business unit
  • Assist the Product Management team with product development processes: by documenting, creating and submitting the necessary forms for project initiation, planning and launch

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Math, Computer Science or equivalent business experience

Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in a personal lines role
