Position Summary: This position manages the Accounting function, including staff management and development. The position is responsible for completion and review of financial statements as well as required reporting and filing of financial information to appropriate regulatory entities.
Essential Functions:
- Manage staff activities related to recording of financial activites and transactions, bookkeeping, account reconciliations, fixed asset management, and annual external audit
- Support Treasury and Investment activities
- Maintain and develop Policies and Procedures
- Insure regulatory compliance and unqualified audit opinion
- Manage preparation and reporting of financial statements, statutory and other regulatory filings, management information and other required information
- Insure integrity, timeliness and relevance of all information reported
- Other management and technical activities
Job Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Master’s degree preferred
Experience:
7 years of directly related Accounting/Finance experience; insurance experience preferred; 2 years of management responsibility
Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.:
Demonstrated proficiency in:
- Windows-based PC software (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong work ethic and results orientation
- Sense of urgency working in a time senstive environment, able to mutli-task with strong attention to detail.
- Commercial general ledger software; web-based banking, treasury and regulatory reporting applications
- Knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Statutory Accounting Principles, internal controls and insurance regulatory reporting and filing
- CPA, CIA, CFE, etc. preferred
